Rankings in Beyond
In Beyond we have 8 rankings for our individuals, Guest/Inactive (both
grouped into one rank), Alt, Recruit, Member, Veteran, Officer, Guild
Master, and Unguilded.
Guest/Inactive - This rank is designed for friends of the guild and past
guild members who have either retired, have prolonged inactivity (over a
month of no raiding), or have had attendance based issues. This status
restricts you from being able to use the vault, and also hinders your
chances of raiding immensely. All members and recruits have priority to
raiding over individuals of this rank. Thus even though you may join the
raid, you may be asked to sit for someone else because of your rank. Once
you have been demoted to this rank it is quite enduring to get out of it.
Players who show great interest to being promoted back to an active member
status will be in the game often, be available at the start of raids, as
well as throughout the entirety of the raid.
Alt - Alts represent an active member's alternate characters. Looking at
our roster, alts make up the majority of our roster. There are a few rules
governing alts and their capabilities. Right now the only 40 man instances
where alts are allowed are Molten Core and Onyxia. Generally we stick to a
limited number of alts (2-3 alts per instance) to ensure that we still come
out of the instance with some nexus shards vaulted as well as to ensure
proper control over the raid. Whose alt is able to attend in Molten Core is
determined by the raid leader and factors may include how many of each class
we currently have, how many times that alt has been brought, and what type
of gear it currently has. If we are extremely low on healers, a Priest
switching to Rogue may be denied while a Warrior switching to Rogue may not.
Alt attendance in non-DKP raids is left up to the raid leader. If your alt
hasn't logged in for 2-3 months, we may remove it from the roster.
Alt to Main switching - Some individuals fall in love with their alt so much
that they wish to switch it to their main. Officers and class leaders for
both your main and your alt should be notified when you wish to do this.
From an officer's viewpoint, many of our members worked hard to help you get
the gear that you have on your main, and now you are in essence throwing
that time and work away so we can gear you up once more. You should be 100%
certain that switching will both benefit the guild as well as yourself in
the long run and that you're not suffering a side effect of burnout.
Switching is a fairly long process, as we have to wait for a spot in the
needed class to open as well as start looking for replacements in your
existing class. You will also have your skills measured by the class leader
of your new class to ensure proper knowledge of the class as well as
knowledge of the class in raiding environments. Penalty of switching: Your
DKP will be reset to 0 and "frozen" during the switching phase (until a slot
becomes open). You will not be able to bid on anything for either
character. In the event that the switch happens, you will be able to bid
again with the DKP you accrued during the frozen state, in the event that
the switch is rejected, we will undo the reset, which gives you full credit
for all raids attended. In the event that you have less than 50 DKP
accrued, you will go in the hole for 50 DKP less your current DKP (IE you
have 45 DKP accrued and switch, you will go 5 points in the hole).
Squelched - This status prevents you from talking in Guild chat. Squelched
status is applied any time an officer feels someone needs to cool down.
Recruits - Recruits are members whom we have tested and decided to bring
into the guild. Recruit status is a transitional phase into Member status.
Recruits are allowed to bring in 2 alternate chars to the guild. This is
limited to keep the roster from being overloaded. If a recruit has problems
(gameplay wise, attendance, attitude), the officers and class leader will
confront them regarding the issue. If a recruit has too many problems and
doesn't seem to be improving in any way, the recruit will be removed from
the guild. Recruits who mysteriously disappear will be removed from the
guild. Recruits whom may have a prolonged attendance problem (I.E. moving
and won't have internet service for awhile) should talk with the class
leader as well as officers to inform them. Known absences from raids
(exams, work, spousal, etc) should be posted in the AWOL section of our
Members forum. Promotion from recruit to member is dependant on the
individual and may take a month to a few months. Recruits are held to a
higher standard in attendance than members are, as we want to make sure that
you have no problem attending the majority of our raids. Recruits have the
same privileges as Members with the exception of restricted access to the
vault. Access to vault items is at the discretion of the vault officer.
Exceptions made for recruits are generally required materials for resist
gear. Another common exception is if they won an item that requires items
from the vault for completion, for example Ahn Qiraj set pieces which
require Idols and Scarabs from the AQ vault.
Members - Members are the primary raiders of Beyond. They're allowed to
receive items from the vault, as well as purchase items from the vault for
alts. For information about purchasing items for your alt, please read the
"Loot rules". Members are very rarely removed from the guild, if major
attitude problems develop and persist, the member will generally be asked to
leave before being removed. Prolonged absence may result in a member being
demoted to Inactive/Guest status. Members should maintain at least 50% raid
attendance on average (waitlist points are included as attendance). Members
who are deficit in this area run the risk of being demoted due to
inactivity. As with recruits, if you will be missing
some raids due to exams or anything else, post a message on the AWOL section
so that we are aware.
Veteran - Veteran's are the class leaders for Beyond. There is one class
leader for each Alliance class type. An officer may also serve as Veteran
for the guild. Veterans should have great knowledge of their class, game
mechanics, as well as the functions of other classes for strategic
discussion with the other veterans and officers. Veterans also must have
some leadership capabilities and often act as a go-between for members and
the officers.
Officers - Officers are in charge of ensuring that raids occur and are the
eyes and ears of the guild. Some common activities for officers include:
monitoring potential recruits, leading raids, distributing loot, recording
attendance, maintaining the guild's various vaults, and doing everything
else that is required to ensure raids occur.
Guild Master - Guild Master is the officer with godlike powers. The Guild
Master has the final say on any changes being made to the guild.
Unguilded - This is what happens when you've been gone for too long without
notice, or you've had emotional outbursts and typed /gquit, etc. We realize
people make mistakes, and are open to hearing their story. If you ended up
unguilded and want back in, talk with the guild master and officers to
present your case. We may take some time to think on it. Resolutions to
the situation will be dependant on the person and the class leader's
recommendations. You should stay unguilded until there's a verdict, as
joining another guild suggests that you have no interest in getting back
in.
